1A Smart Start, LLC, the established global leader in the ignition interlock industry and one of the largest companies in the fast-growing alcohol monitoring industry, was acquired by ABRY Partners on Friday, August 21^st.

Founded in September of 1992, Smart Start has grown from a privately-held operation in Irving, TX to the world’s foremost presence in offender alcohol monitoring. To date, the company has amassed nearly 1,600 locations, prevented over 6.5 million illegal vehicle starts, and serviced over half a million clients.
