First, you should know that in Colorado, an Ignition Interlock Device can also be shortened to IID, but both terms mean the same thing. Your oversight authority for your IID program will be the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles or DMV. The DMV likely provided you information to let you know when to go get your approved Ignition Interlock Device installed following your DUI charge. When you arrive at the service center, our knowledgeable technicians will start installing the Ignition Interlock Device carefully into your motor vehicle. In the meantime, you’ll fill out some paperwork, watch a training video and be shown how to take a test with the device. All of these components are to help ensure you know how to comply with Ignition Interlock laws.

Random Running Retests in Colorado

Under Colorado Ignition Interlock laws, you have up to five minutes to perform a random running retest. These tests occur after passing your initial breath test to start your motor vehicle.
