Can an Ignition Interlock Device Detect Pot?

An Interlock Restricted License requires that you use an Ignition Interlock Device

Each jurisdiction has its own terms, rules and regulations, but an Interlock Restricted License is not the same as a suspended license. In general, it permits a driver to drive a vehicle only if it is equipped with an Ignition Interlock Device (IID). That’s also known as a “car breathalyzer,” “blow-and-go,” or BAIID.

Usually the consequence of a DUI, DWI, or OWI, the length may differ from state to state. It may also be extended if you don’t comply with the terms of your Ignition Interlock Device requirement. Violations can include testing with a high breath alcohol content, skipping tests, or failing to service your interlock on schedule.

Your state may require you to require you to apply for the Interlock Restricted License before you’re eligible to install the Ignition Interlock Device.
